This Instruction reissues DoD Instruction 5105.49, January 2, 1981, to confirm clarify, and establish objectives, policies, responsibilities, and procedures regarding School Advisory Committees, Installation Advisory Committees, Component Command Advisory Councils, Theater Education Councils, and the Dependents Education Council for the overseas school system operated by the Department of Defense Dependents Schools consistent with references Public Law 95-561, November 1, 1978, as amended by Public Law 99-145, November 8, 1985 and DoD Direcitve 1342.6, Ocotber 17, 1978.
